The development goes fast, thats for sure, but the most surprising is how we have become so accustomed to it. Nowadays you will not be that surprised if I told you that your Smartphone can be transformed to an Infrared Camera. An Infrared Camera is a quite expensive thing, but now the company Flir, a company which claims to be the world leader in Infrared Cameras, release Flir One that transforms a Smartphone into an Infrared Camera for around US$ 350.
Flir One comes in a form of a cover which places an iPhone 5 or 5S. The sensor operates in the infrared spectrum and shows temperatures between 0 and 100 degrees Celsius as different colors and in text. A battery recharging should be enough for two hours of continuous operation in which both images and videos can be saved to the mobile.
The uses are many. One could be to find heat leaks and water leaks in your own home, see through smoke, and navigate in total darkness, or use it as a night vision camera for studying wildlife or discover unwanted guests lurking on the villa grounds.
Flir One will soon be introduced on the market and the sales start is planned the first quarter of 2014.
